The seeds of the tree Theobroma cacao provide the source of chocolate for worldwide food industry. T. cacao genome has been sequenced by two groups. The genome assembly of the variety Criollo was published in Nature Genetics in 2011 (Argout et al. Nature Genetics,2010). The assembly of the variety Matina 1-6 is available from the Cacao genome database.
