Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) is an important grain species and has been regarded as a stress tolerant crop. The sorghum genome was published on Nature in 2009 (Paterson et al. Nature,2009). It has ~700 megabases spread over ten chromosomes and contains 34,496 protein coding genes.
