The genome of black cottonwood tree (Populus trichocarpa) was originally published on Science in 2006 (ref). The updated poplar genome is available on Phytozome which contains ~370 megabases and 41,377 protein coding genes on 19 chromosomes. P. trichocarpa is characteristic of whole genome duplication.
