Dunaliella salina is a green micro-algae found in sea salt fields. It produces large amount of carotenoids, and thus is used in cosmetics and dietary supplements. This organism is a good model for understanding life adaptation to extreme environments, has commercial value for production of nutrient substances. D. salina genome is approximately 343.7Mb arranged in 5,512 scaffolds (JGI Phytozome).
