Capsella rubella is a close relative of Arabidopsis thaliana and a member of the family Brassicaceae. It has become a model species to study the evolution of self-incompatibility into self-compatibility in plant reproduction. C. rubella's genome was sequenced in 2013 (ref), which is approximately 134.8 Mb arranged in 853 scaffolds with 26,521 protein coding genes.
