The castor bean (Ricinus communis) is an oilseed plant that supplies castor oil. The draft genome of castor bean contains 31,237 gene models spread on 25,800 scaffolds. It is estimated that the entire genome is ~320 megabases and includes 10 chromosomes (Nature Biotechiology, 2010).
